Mother and daughter from Glendale killed in horrific crash in Texas

LUFKIN, Texas (WITI) -- A Glendale mother and daughter were killed in a crash involving a semi tractor-trailer in Lufkin, Texas on Tuesday, May 13th.

Officials say the wreck happened around 11 a.m. on S. First St. and College Dr. in Lufkin.

Apparently, a semi was stopped for a red light when a car driven by 19-year-old Katrina Holloway failed to stop at the light -- causing the car to collide with the back of the truck's trailer.

Katrina's mother, 52-year-old Susan Holloway, was a passenger in the car.

Both Katrina and Susan were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was not hurt.

Friends of 19-year-old "Trina" Holloway are in disbelief.

"I just bawled. I bawled all day. I couldn't believe that in a blink of an eye her life was gone. It's hard. We were good friends. She was a year younger than me," Kaelyn Marks said.

Trina and Kaelyn were on the soccer team together at Nicolet High School.

"Trina had a big smile on her face all the time just like her mom did.  Wonderful family," Marks said.

Trina's brother still attends Nicolet. We're told grief counselors were present at the school on Wednesday.

"The entire Nicolet family extends our condolences to a member of our student body who experienced a personal tragedy.  At the school, we`ll do everything we can to support them during this difficult time," Nicolet School District Superintendent Robert Kobylski said.

According to FOX6's news partners in Texas, the Holloway's car was filled with luggage, books and a map.

Trina attended Texas State University.

A friend who has known Trina since first grade is now mourning the loss of a mother and daughter taken too soon.

"There are so many people that Trina has touched. She is one of the most wonderful people I have ever known," Trina's friend told FOX6 News.
