Two arrested following burglary at Sturtevant Auto Salvage
MOUNT PLEASANT (WITI) -- Mount Pleasant police arrested two suspects in connection with a burglary at Sturtevant Auto Salvage on Sunday, December 15th.
According to officials, police responded to the scene around 1:45 a.m. for a burglar alarm. Upon arrival, police spotted two male suspects walking near the business -- they were carrying duffel bags.
After spotting the suspects, police set up perimeter around the business before two officers attempted to approach the suspects. Once approached, the suspects dropped their bags, which contained stolen property, and fled the scene on foot.
After a foot pursuit, officers caught up with one of the suspects, and arrested him. The second suspect continued to run towards Kraunt Rd. , near one of the perimeter officers. After being pursued for approximately one mile, he was arrested.
After further investigation officers determined that the two suspects used force to obtain entry onto the property and into the business. The items stolen consisted of car stereos, car amplifiers, speakers, and tools.
Both suspects were taken to the Racine County Jail. Charges of: Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property, Possession of Burglary tools, and Resisting Officer, were referred to the Racine County District Attorney’s Office.
