MILWAUKEE -- Two people have been charged in connection with the shooting death of Mario Dancer -- one of six people shot and killed in Milwaukee during the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
21-year-old Roderick Leblanc of Milwaukee faces one count of first degree reckless homicide, use of a dangerous weapon.
25-year-old Dumar Leblanc of Milwaukee faces one count of battery/threat to a witness.
31-year-old Mario Dancer was found with a gunshot wound to his head in the 8100 block of W. Glen Avenue on Saturday, July 4th. Police said there had been a large party at a home in the area.
Dancer was pronounced dead at the hospital.
A criminal complaint filed in this case says a detective found a single, brass .40 caliber Smith & Wesson casing on the front porch of a home -- near where Dancer was found.
Police spoke with a woman who knows both of the suspects in this case, who are brothers. The complaint indicates on July 4th, the woman, along with Roderick Leblanc and Dumar Leblanc attended a party at a home in the 8100 block of W. Glen Avenue.
The woman told police they were hanging out, watching fireworks being shot off by neighbors. At one point, the woman went inside for a few moments, and it was shortly thereafter, that a child ran into the home and said "Someone's been shot! Get those kids in the house!"
The woman said soon, Roderick Leblanc's girlfriend ran into the home, yelling "He's been shot! Rod shot him!"
Police say the woman told them she saw the brothers' aunt on the phone with 911, and she heard Dumar Leblanc yell: "Tell them it was a drive-by."
Minutes later, the woman says Roderick Leblanc came into the home "all pumped up" -- yelling: "Dude thinks I'm a punk. He thought I was playing." The complaint indicates the woman told police Roderick Leblanc had a pistol in his hand.
The complaint indicates Roderick Leblanc soon left the home.
Meanwhile, the complaint says Dumar Leblanc was telling everyone: "Tell them it was a drive-by. Don't say it was my brother."
Police say Mario Dancer's stepfather said: "I'm going to tell, because he didn't deserve that."
Then, the complaint indicates Dumar Leblanc grabbed Dancer's stepfather by the throat -- pushing him up against a wall, yelling: "You better not tell in my brother or I will kill you. I'll do whatever it takes to protect my little brother."
An arrest warrant was issued for Roderick Leblanc on Tuesday, July 14th. It is unclear whether Dumar Leblanc has been taken into custody.
