MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Milwaukee police say two people were found dead inside a home near Richards and Auer on Milwaukee's north side on Monday afternoon, December 1st. Officials say the victims may have been deceased for some time.
Officers were called to the neighborhood on Milwaukee's north side around 1:30 p.m. for a welfare check. When the first officers arrived on the scene, one officer encountered a 26-year-old man at the rear of the home. That person began waving a knife at the officer. The officer then chased the man through a gangway and into the street.
Officials say the officer was able to talk the man into dropping his knife -- and he was taken into custody peacefully.
The officers then went into the home and found two people dead. The victims have not yet been identified.
Emotions ran high at the scene on Monday, with officers stepping in to stop an argument.
On Monday evening, a hazmat team was seen entering the home.
