Two officers hurt in scuffle with man while investigating domestic violence incident

GREENFIELD -- Two Greenfield police officers were hurt in a scuffle with a 21-year-old man at a motel on Sunday evening, May 29th.

The officers were dispatched to the Hideaway Motel near 27th and Edgerton just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday to investigate a domestic violence incident.

When officers arrived, the victim’s 21-year-old son was confrontational with the officers. Officers tried to prevent the confrontation from escalating, however, the 21-year-old became increasingly agitated and would not comply with the officers' directions. When the officers tried to take the 21-year-old into custody, he physically resisted the officers.

Two Greenfield police officers were injured as a result of this incident. Both were taken to a hospital for treatment of their injuries. One of the injured officers is a 31-year-old man with seven years of experience. He was treated for his injuries at the hospital and later released. The second officer is a 33-year-old man
with two years of experience. He remained hospitalized.

The 21-year-old offender was taken into custody and later taken to the Criminal Justice Facility.

The original domestic violence incident was investigated and a 48-year-old man was arrested. He was later taken to the Criminal Justice Facility to be held pending a review of charges by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
