Two OWI arrests in as many days in Dodge County: One fourth offense, one fifth offense
DODGE COUNTY (WITI) -- Dodge County Sheriff's officials have released details on two OWI arrests that occurred this week. One of the cases involved a man accused of driving 122 miles per hour! Both incidents occurred in the Town of Ashippun.
The first incident occurred on Tuesday, July 15th -- just before 8:00 p.m.
Dodge County Sheriff's officials responded to a one-vehicle crash on Washington Road near Franklin Road in the Town of Ashippun.
An investigation revealed that a 44-year-old Town of Ashippun man was operating his vehicle westbound on Washington Road when he lost control, went into the ditch and rolled over.
The man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, had to be extricated. He was then taken to the hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries.
He was later arrested for OWI -- fifth offense.
The second incident occurred on Wednesday morning, July 16th -- just after 1:15 a.m.
A Dodge County Sheriff's deputy was on patrol when he observed a vehicle traveling 122 mph on County Highway O in the Town of Ashippun.
A traffic stop was conducted, and it was found that the vehicle, a 1991 Ferrari, was being operated by a 28-year-old man from rural Ashippun.
Sheriff's officials say a further investigation determined the man was impaired, and he was arrested for OWI -- fourth offense, along with speeding, operating after revocation and bail jumping.
“These incidents are very concerning. Both could have ended tragically in serious crashes, putting the lives of other drivers at great risk," Dodge County Sheriff Patrician Ninmann said.
