Uber passengers outraged at New Year's Eve 'surge' pricing
New Year's Eve revelers around the world woke up to quite the shock after they saw the charges they racked up using Uber. Even though Uber issued plenty of advance warnings, that didn't stop passengers from complaining abut the ride-hailing surge pricing.
According to the LATimes.com, taxi drivers in Los Angeles are not allowed to hike fares during peak demand, but those rules don't apply for Uber.
Uber tweeted several times before New Year's Eve, encouraging riders to split the cost with friends and run fare estimates in advance.
"Surge pricing shouldn't be a surprise!" Uber said on its blog.
