Upset parent on campus: Students at Knapp Elem. in Racine asked to stay in their classrooms
RACINE -- Racine police say students at Knapp Elementary School were asked to stay in their classrooms for a brief period of time on Tuesday afternoon, February 23rd due to an incident involving a parent at the school who was upset.
Police say the parent was raising their voice and expressing concerns to staff at Knapp Elementary following a fight between two students around 2:15 p.m. A Racine Unified School District spokeswoman says this was a case involving a parent who went directly to her child's classroom, instead of signing in at the school.
No threat was made -- and there was never any threat to students' safety.
It's unclear whether an official "lockdown" occurred at the school, but we do know students were asked to stay in their classrooms for a brief period of time.
When the parent calmed down, she was taken to the principal's office, where she then signed in and spoke with the principal.
The entire ordeal lasted only about five minutes, we're told.
