USPS spokesman: No mail delivery in Milwaukee area Wednesday

CHICAGO – The United States Postal Service will suspend delivery in several states Wednesday, Jan. 30 as dangerously cold weather freezes the Midwest. That includes parts of Milwaukee and Wisconsin.

In a statement, a USPS spokesman said:

"With severe winter weather impacting the area, and forecasts predicting temperatures to reach historic low levels, the U.S. Postal Service will suspend regular mail delivery on Wednesday, January 30, 2019.

Mail delivery will be suspended for the 530-532, 535, 537-539, 541-543, 544-545, 549, 600, 602, 610-611 ZIP Codes in Wisconsin and Illinois. Express Mail delivery will be provided for city/metropolitan areas, and Post Offices will remain open to offer retail services."


The breakdown by ZIP code is as follows (there will not be mail delivery Wednesday in these locations):

      Delivery was also suspended in South Dakota, portions of Montana, Kansas, Missouri and Nebraska.

      “Retail operations at local offices will be available, but may be limited. There will be no collection mail pick up from businesses or collection boxes. Additionally, there will be no residential or commercial package pick-up services,” the statement said.
