"Very young:" Three teens taken into custody after leading police on pursuit in stolen vehicle

BROWN DEER -- Three teens were taken into custody Wednesday, June 8th after leading police on a pursuit in a stolen vehicle. This all started with an attempted carjacking in Brown Deer.

Two of the suspects in custody are 16 years old -- the third, just 13.

"Very young. Very young," said Brad Caddock, Brown Deer Police Department.

Around 4:30 p.m. on June 8th, Brown Deer police were called out to the Greenbrook Professional Building, located near 60th and Brown Deer Road, for a report of a woman who was threatened to be harmed by a group of kids if she didn't give them her minivan.

"As officers responded there, they observed two other vans. We also go another report of a theft of a vehicle. They started pursuing the two vans," said Caddock.

Police say both minivans drove together, erratically through several jurisdictions, involving other North Shore police agencies. Finally at Green Bay and Silver Spring Road, three teens jumped out of one van and ran. All of them were arrested.

The other van was discovered later in Milwaukee near 46th and Hadley, without anyone inside. But the crime spree seems to have started long before Wednesday.

"The Milwaukee Police Department and any other jurisdictions that have had similar crimes -- we're trying to link crimes together," said Caddock.

The three suspects in custody are aged 13, 16 and 16 and are all from Milwaukee. One had a warrant and is on probation, and another was wanted for a bank robbery. All face additional charges in reference to this incident.

Brown Deer police are still actively searching for the group in the second minivan. It appears it may have been the second van they stole in a short period of time.
