Voces de la Frontera hosts picket demonstration at Menards after signing of "anti-immigrant" bill
WEST MILWAUKEE -- More than 35 Voces de la Frontera members picketed at Menards in West Milwaukee on Monday, May 16th.
Demonstrators urged the public to boycott the company because of its support for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.
Walker recently signed into law a bill some say is anti-immigrant, which blocks counties from issuing local identification cards to their residents, including undocumented people.

This is the second time Voces has targeted Menards.
Voces officials issued this statement on Monday's demonstration:
"This morning more than 35 Voces de la Frontera members picketed Menards in West Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Demonstrators urged the public to boycott the company because of its support for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, who has repeatedly attacked Latinos and immigrants, and who most recently signed an anti-immigrant bill SB533, which blocks counties from issuing local identification cards to their residents, including undocumented people.
Community members urged Menards CEO John Menard Jr. to speak against the anti-immigrant agenda and to pay workers living wages.
“We’re inviting everyone to join the Menards boycott,” said Voces de la Frontera member Zayra Viveros. “My family and I used to buy from Menards. I own several apartments and I used to buy materials for repairs and renovation from Menards. My husband and two sons are carpenters and contractors and they have spent tens of thousands of dollards there. Not anymore. Join us! We’re not spending our money where they support politicians who hate us.”
