MILWAUKEE -- The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee are working to make sure kids have a lot to smile about during the holidays.
On Saturday the organization kicked off a gift wrapping party to make that happen. Nearly 200 volunteers turned out to wrap gifts at Bayshore Town Center. Gifts are stacking up because of the toy drives this time of year.
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee say since 1990, they've collected and distributed more than 45,000 toys and gifts to its club members.
Erin Hareng of the Clubs says, "We see families take these gifts and use them as their holiday gift. So, this really helps families in need out now. When you're making decisions based on food, electricity, and things like that, the holiday may not be the first priority."
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee say they've received about 5,000 gifts so far this year, but their still trying to hit the 6,000 mark. The Goal is to make sure each child gets a gift.
The organization's virtual toy drive runs through December 31st.
