VP Mike Pence visits Uline in Pleasant Prairie, talks about new trade pact
PLEASANT PRAIRIE — Vice President Mike Pence makes good on a promise to come to southeast Wisconsin just a week after postponing a visit to travel to Turkey. He was in the state to promote the Trump Administration's USMCA trade deal, which Pence said is good for Wisconsin.
"We have an opportunity to really focus on the American people and focus on what's important in moving this economy forward -- and that happens when we approve the USMCA," Pence said in a one-on-one interview with FOX6 News.
The vice president wants Congress to pass the United States-Mexico-Canada trade deal. It is an agreement the vice president said will boost Wisconsin's economy and create manufacturing jobs.
Pence also called on Congress to end the impeachment inquiry. Republicans stormed a hearing on Wednesday, calling for more transparency. The vice president said he understands the frustration felt by Republican lawmakers.

"Would you have taken part? I'm someone who believes in transparency. That that those Republicans were calling for today," Pence said.
President Trump was the first Republican presidential candidate since 1984 to win Wisconsin, and the state is important to his re-election campaign.
The vice president was scheduled to speak at a shipbuilder in Marinette earlier Wednesday. But he canceled that appearance hours before he was to arrive.
