Walgreens is closing two stores on Milwaukee's north side, part of the pharmacy chain's plan to close around 1,200 stores over the next few years.
MILWAUKEE - Walgreens is closing two stores on Milwaukee's north side, part of the pharmacy chain's plan to close around 1,200 stores over the next few years.
The store near 91st and Appleton is closing Tuesday, Dec. 3. The location at MLK and Hadley will close on Thursday, Dec. 5. Hundreds in the community who rely on the store are now wondering what's next.
"We are on this side of town, so we need our medications and want to get it as quick as possible," Jobe said.

This store is more than just a pharmacy for Jobe. It's also where he shops for food and other necessities.
""First it was the Walmart and now it's this," he said. "So, what next? We don't got anything else over here."
Walgreens near 91st and Appleton, Milwaukee
In January, the Walgreens at Teutonia and Capitol closed. In October, the store closed at 26th and National.

Walgreens said changes in the pharmacy industry and declining sales are some of the reasons for the shutdowns.
He and others are now left figuring out what the closest pharmacy and grocery option is.
"if you don't have transportation, how are you supposed to get your medication?" Phyllis Johnson asked. "Wondering just, really, why? Is this really reasonable? Shut Hampton down [...] at least leave something in the area."
For those looking for the closest alternative, both Life Tree and Hayat Pharmacy have locations roughly one mile from the 91st and Appleton Walgreens.
