Walworth County officials investigate officer-involved shooting in Lake Geneva

WALWORTH COUNTY -- The Town of Geneva Police Department are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred near Lincoln Drive and Gooseberry Road in Walworth County Friday, January 8th.

Police say the shooting took place at approximately 5:10 p.m.

According to authorities, no officers were injured in the incident, however no details have been released on who else might have been involved, their condition, or what led to the officer-involved shooting.

FOX6 News spoke with a woman who lives nearby from where the shooting took place. She was just coming home as the scene was developing.

“My daughter called me and told me that there was people arguing and she wanted me to be safe and I told her don’t worry about it I was coming home, I’d be there shortly maybe in two minutes -- I pulled in like I said there was three police cars, a person on the ground," said Michelle Basith, neighbor.

Police say the Walworth County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Criminal Investigations are handling the investigation of this shooting.

Authorities say they will not be releasing any other information at this time.
