Washington County deals with another dose of snow

WEST BEND -- A week after digging out from a blizzard, part of Washington County are dealing with a new dose of snow. But officials with the Washington County Sheriff's Office and public works departments say they're ready.

Snow banks nearly a foot high remained frozen fixtures along the streets and sidewalks of West Bend on Friday, December 28th. Last Thursday, the city of struck by a blizzard that caused power lines to come down and trees to snap.

Early on Friday, city workers began combatting the slushy streets; dropped road salt in anticipation of more snow.

Rick Heisler, the director of Public Works in West Bend, says his crews always prepare for the worst -- and need to deal with the remains of the last storm.

"This evening at 11 we're going to send guys out to begin rolling snow out and hauling snow," said Heisler.

Officials in West Bend say the morning commute wasn't too worrisome because school was out; traffic was light. They say that could all change with holiday traffic this weekend.
