Water main break in Brookfield leads to formation of sinkhole

BROOKFIELD (WITI) -- Crews were on the scene, checking out a sinkhole in Brookfield on Sunday night, September 29th.

It happened when a water main erupted in a neighborhood near Old Lantern Drive and Commons Drive, and a sinkhole formed.

A portion of the roadway was blocked off.

Neighbors say the gushing water shot up a few feet!

FOX6 News is told about two years ago, the same pipe may have burst.

No cause for Sunday night's issue has been shared at this time -- but officials were able to get the water main break repaired, and the water shut off.
