Waukesha County police chase; 2 squads collide, 2 in custody

Two people were taken into custody following a police chase that began in Jefferson County and ended in Waukesha County on Wednesday night, Dec. 18. 

According to the Waukesha County Sheriff's Department, shortly after 10:30 p.m. Jefferson County advised Waukesha County officials of a suspected impaired driver that had fled from squads in Jefferson County. 

A Waukesha County deputy observed the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle fled, and a pursuit was initiated. 

During the pursuit, a Waukesha County squad struck a Town of Brookfield squad. Both squads had significant damage. 

Brookfield police pursued the vehicle to the area of I-894 and Greenfield Avenue where they utilized a PIT maneuver.

Three occupants were taken into custody – one was released without charges. The other two occupants were taken into custody and are being referred to the Waukesha County District Attorney for the following criminal charges:

  • Driver: Fleeing/eluding, OWI 1st, 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of marijuana w/ Intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.
  • Passenger: Felon in possession of a firearm/OC, possession of marijuana w/ Intent to deliver

There were no injuries.
