Waukesha man arrested for OWI after sideswiping Racine County Sheriff's deputy's squad
RACINE COUNTY (WITI) -- A 66-year-old Waukesha man was arrested for his first OWI after Racine County Sheriff's officials say he struck a Sheriff's deputy's squad car on Friday night, October 10th.
It happened just after 11:30 p.m. in the Town of Yorkville.
Racine County Sheriff's officials say the Sheriff's deputy was assisting two motorists whose vehicle had broken down in the construction area on I-94 northbound, just south of State Highway 20.
The deputy was providing traffic control so the vehicle could be loaded onto a tow truck and removed from the area when the 66-year-old man's vehicle sideswiped the deputy's squad.
The stranded motorists weren't injured, and their vehicle wasn't struck.
Sheriff's officials say the tow truck driver was struck by debris from the incident, but he wasn't injured.
Sheriff's officials say the deputy suffered minor injuries as he was seated in the squad when it was struck.
The 66-year-old operator of the striking vehicle wasn't injured. He was arrested for OWI.
