"We felt it necessary to support:" Eder Flag donates 800 American, LGBT flags to Milwaukee for vigil

MILWAUKEE -- There were hundreds of American and rainbow flags at a vigil in Milwaukee Monday evening, June 13th in honor of the 49 people who lost their lives in a mass shooting at a gay nightclub Sunday in Orlando, and those flags were a gift from Eder Flag in Oak Creek -- a company with ties to Orlando.

In times of trouble, people unite behind the flag. It was powerful Monday to see two flags together in Milwaukee after the mass shooting in Orlando.

The American and rainbow flags were cut, stitched and folded by careful hands at Eder Flag in Oak Creek.

"When something like this happens, a tragedy, you want to help in any way you can," Jodi Goglio said.

Eder Flag is an example of unity in its own right. Several different languages were spoken by those crafting flags on Monday.

"We just felt, you know, necessary to support," Goglio said.

Goglio, Eder Flag's COO, said those at the company feel a connection to the tragedy in Orlando. Eder Flag has a distribution center in Orlando.

"Even in little, little things like making a donation, I think it can make a big difference," Goglio said.

The company decided to donate 800 flags -- 400 American flags and 400 rainbow flags to the city of Milwaukee for the vigil held outside City Hall on Monday night.

"People want to display their symbol of the country. They want to be a part of something bigger. They want to feel united," Goglio said.

It was a message from Milwaukee to those in Orlando that we share in their pain.

Eder Flag officials said they're expecting an increase in demand for flags as more people want a symbol of American and LGBT pride after this tragedy.
