Whitefish Bay sinkhole; driver ignores road closure sign, roadway collapses
WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. - A vehicle fell into a sinkhole in Whitefish Bay on Wednesday, Dec. 25. Police say the road was closed at the time of the incident.
According to police, shortly before 11 a.m. there was a water main break near Consaul Place and Lake View Avenue. DPW crews put up "road closed" signs while they resolved the issue because the road was unstable.
Police say a motorist drove around road closure signs and the weight of the vehicle caused the roadway to partially collapse.
