New food bank network

New food bank network

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Wisconsin Feeding America food banks have formed the Wisconsin Association of Feeding America Food Banks. This new association will support and enhance the work of Feeding America food banks in Wisconsin with the goal of creating public/private partnerships to help end hunger in Wisconsin.

UnitedHealthcare on Tuesday, January 22nd donated $100,000 to help support the state association.

The State Association includes all Feeding America food banks serving Wisconsin: Channel One Regional Food Bank, Feed My People Food Bank, Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, Second Harvest Heartland and Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank.

Together, these food banks serve every county in Wisconsin, supplying food pantries and meal programs with basic food items necessary to support our neighbors in need at the local level. In other states with similar associations, this collaboration supports more food for hungry neighbors, improved information about how to best focus anti-hunger efforts and better communications tools to engage partners across the state in this effort.

With 756,000 Wisconsinites at risk of starving, the networks say their job is more important than ever.
