FOND DU LAC (AP) -- Prosecutors in Fond du Lac County are considering charges against a man who had 68 Siberian huskies removed from his property earlier this year.
District attorney Dan Kaminsky says the sheriff's department recommended 226 charges. The counts would include mistreatment of animals and failure to provide food and water.
Authorities visited the man's property in May while looking for a stray calf wandering in the area. Officers who visited the dog-breeding and hobby farm in Van Dyne reported some dead animals and dozens of others in various stages of starvation.
Kaminsky says his office is still reviewing the case.
Three dogs had to be euthanized. The rest were taken to the Fond du Lac Humane Society. Almost all have been adopted.
