Wisconsin DOJ investigates officer-involved fatal shooting in New London



NEW LONDON -- A 31-year-old man has died following an officer-involved shooting that took place near Algoma and Wallas Streets in New London.

The shooting took place Friday, August 19th.

According to New London police, two officers in a marked squad were near the intersection of Algoma and Wallace, when they observed a known man who had an active warrant for his arrest.

Police say when the officers confronted the man, he produced a weapon.

According to authorities, the officers drew their duty weapons and fatally shot the man.

The officers were uninjured.

The Wisconsin Department of Justice will be investigating this incident.

Police will not be releasing the names of the officers at this time.

The name of the 31-year-old man is being withheld pending family notification.

No other details have been released.
