Wisconsin DOT issues travel advisory due to winter storm warning

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Snow is expected on Thursday, February 7th, and the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning beginning at 6:00 a.m. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has issued a Travel Advisory due to potentially dangerous conditions on Wisconsin roadways.

The National Weather Service has issued winter storm warnings and advisories for southeastern and southwestern Wisconsin beginning at  a.m. through most of the day on Thursday, February 7.

Mixed precipitation of snow, sleet and freezing rain can be expected as temperatures rise above freezing. As the storm system departs later in the day, potential for lake enhanced snowfall exists.

Motorists are advised that visibility and varying road conditions will be challenging throughout the day, especially in Milwaukee and Madison commuter corridors.

WisDOT, including the Wisconsin State Patrol, will closely monitor road conditions
as the storm moves into the various regions.

WisDOT urges motorists to check road conditions before leaving home by calling 51- or visiting Wisconsin 511 online.
