Wisconsin DOT winter road conditions; updated resources for drivers

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation has updated resources for drivers as winter rolls in.

WisDOT's Traffic Management Center, located in Milwaukee, monitors road conditions across the state. It provides updated information, so drivers can see when and where roads may be dicey before they head out.

"Our updated categories for the road conditions, we have partially-covered and fully-covered road conditions, in addition to new information or travel not advised or normal driving conditions," said Elizabeth Schneider, WisDOT freeway operations engineer. "For partially covered roadway conditions, that means there is snow or ice that is covering up to 50% of the pavement.

To track updates on driving conditions, visit WisDOT's 511 website and select the map's "Winter Road Conditions" tool or use the 511 mobile app.
