Williams bravely served from 1990-1996. On Saturday, he rode with the Combat Vets Association.
"It gives us that brotherhood that a lot of us veterans miss," said Williams.
Wisconsin Harley-Davidson wants its annual honor ride to not only honor those who served but remind everyone of what bikers do in the community.
"It's not just about the motorcycles. It's what they do in the community. What they give back. We want to break that stigma of how someone may view a motorcycle rider," said Smith.
After some light refreshments, dozens of bikes headed to the Wisconsin War Memorial to pay their respects – and to remember why they’re free to ride.
"Remember those who have given those who have given their lives for our freedom and to be able to do that grilling out and have those fun times on the weekends," said Williams.
