Wisconsin marketing campaign plays off beer love to lure businesses
MADISON (AP) — Wisconsin's love of the Packers, beer and cheese is being used by Gov. Scott Walker's job-creation agency as part of a nationwide advertising campaign.
The effort launching this month also includes radio ads in Chicago and the Twin Cities, areas that were targeted earlier this year as well.
The $1.6 million ad campaign is the third phase of a multi-year effort begun by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation in 2012.
Online adds referring to the state's connection with beer, cheese and the Packers are running to target entrepreneurs and potential investors.
WEDC second-in-command Ryan Murray says the campaign is designed to make Wisconsin competitive with other states that have launched similar efforts.
