WISCONSIN -- There will be a new U.S. senator from the Dairy State after voters head to the polls on Tuesday, November 6th. The question is whether the seat that's long been held by the Democrats stay that way, or whether Wisconsin will soon have two Republican senators.
With about 48 hours left to go before voters head to the polls, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Tammy Baldwin and her volunteers took time Sunday, November 4th to watch the Green Bay Packers take on the Arizona Cardinals. It was part photo opportunity and part opportunity to take a breather from Republican attack ads calling Baldwin a liberal extremist.
"I think all the voters are exhausted with the portrayals and are looking to get to know the candidates," Baldwin said.
Meanwhile, Republican U.S. Senate candidate Tommy Thompson who said Sunday he was in the process of trying to regain his voice, found the energy to belt out more than one political battle cry when he addressed supporters at Milwaukee's Serb Hall.
"That's why we're Republicans. We solve the problems. We make a difference. We're going to make it stronger, better, fairer," Thompson said.
Thompson is the subject of Democratic attack ads calling him a political insider working for the rich. He announced who he's campaigning for on Sunday.
"I'm running for the right reasons. I'm running for my children and my grandchildren, your children and your grandchildren," Thompson said.
"I'm going to be a voice for the people, and Tommy's going to be a voice for the powerful," Baldwin said.
"She's so far to the left that Nanci Pelosi has to turn left to talk to her. That's how far to the left Tammy is," Thompson said.
"People are really struggling and they need someone who's going to go to Washington and fight for them," Baldwin said.
