Drivers face challenges in Wisconsin winter weather

Mother Nature was no match for some drivers as heavy snow pummeled through southeast Wisconsin on Thursday, Dec. 19.

KEWASKUM, Wis. - Mother Nature was no match for some drivers as heavy snow pummeled through southeast Wisconsin on Thursday, Dec. 19.

Archie Graham was a mile away from his Kewaskum home when he said low visibility and slick roads got the best of him.

"I’ve never ever had an experience like this, so this was really shocking," Archie Graham said. "I was making a right turn into the Citgo to get gas and then, boom, I just skidded right into the ditch over here."

After a delay from his roadside assistance, he called his son Justin.

"I was at work and he doesn’t really call me unless there was some sort of an emergency," he said. "No news is good news, so I get the call, like, what, you’re in a ditch?"

He, along with FOX6 photojournalist Collin Schemenauer, pushed until they couldn’t.

"Collin was the real MVP for me as well," Justin Graham said. "I was down there pushing and pushing. I see a camera set up and all of a sudden, I see someone that says, ‘Can I help you push?’ And I said, ‘Absolutely, I can’t do this by myself.’"

That’s when a knight in a shining truck rode in, offering to pull Graham out of his misery.

"I really appreciate the gentlemen that stopped by and said let me tow you out," he said. "It really shows you that people got heart. Got feelings and got a way of seeing people in trouble and willing to step up and do something about it."

It was a heartwarming ending to a cold and snowy commute.

"If you can stay home, stay home," Justin Graham said. "Don’t come out, otherwise you’ll be helping your dad out of a ditch."

The FOX6 Weather Experts say 2–4 inches of snow can be expected in most areas, while there is the potential for 4–6 inches over northern counties, including the northern lakeshore, due to possible lake enhancement and heavier snow.
