Woman found passed out in vehicle on busy San Diego freeway
SAN DIEGO, CA (WITI) -- A California Highway Patrol officer rescued an allegedly intoxicated driver who appeared to be passed out in the driver's seat while on a busy San Diego freeway.
According to KTLA, the woman was stopped in the middle of freeway with cars speeding by early Friday morning, March 27th.
A passerby ran to the vehicle and tried to wake the woman by tapping on the window and yelling "wake up!" -- but the woman remained unresponsive. All this caught on video by the local television station.
The California Highway Patrol officer arrived shortly after and attempted to get the woman's attention as well, when suddenly the vehicle the woman was inside started rolling on the freeway as her foot came off the brake.
Quick thinking by the patrol officer, he ran to the passenger side and smashed the window with his flashlight. Finally, the officer was able to open the door and put the car into park just as the woman was waking up.
The driver was identified as 25-year-old Amber Dlaine McKinney Morgan, and she was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
