Woman in critical condition following crash on Lake Parkway
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Police are investigating a bizarre accident that ended up on the Lake Parkway in Milwaukee on Tuesday morning, November 12th.
Police say a 34-year-old woman from Milwaukee was driving a car east on Morgan Ave. when she drove through a guard rail, traveled over railroad tracks, through a fence, went airborne and over the southbound lanes of 794 -- coming to rest on the northbound lanes of 794.
To those who saw this incident, the scene was all too real.
"She had to at least be doing 100 miles an hour," said John St. Clair. "She was alive when they pulled her out of the car. She had a neck brace on."
"Ahead of me, I saw like some smoke and a car flipped over. So I immediately pulled over and there were about four or five people kind of standing around the car," said John Sherer. "The person in the car became more and more like coherent, started moving more and trying to get out, but still wasn't saying anything."
The driver was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The incident forced authorities to shut down the northbound lanes of the Lake Parkway at E. Howard Ave. The crash scene was cleared around 3:15 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
