Woman in serious condition following rollover accident in Town of Norway

RACINE (WITI) -- A 31-year-old woman from Sturtevant is in serious condition following a single-vehicle, rollover crash that occurred early Friday morning, July 11th.

According to officials, an off-duty detective from the Racine County Sheriff's Office Metro Drug Unit was on his way to work when he located the crash in the 24000 block of Apple Road in the Town of Norway.

The 31-year-old driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was ejected.

The detective located the woman in a ditch, approximately five feet from the vehicle. She advised she had been there for some time and complained of loss of feeling in her legs.

The preliminary investigation showed that the vehicle was eastbound on Apple Road when the it crossed the center line, left the roadway, and struck a culvert before rolling over at least once.

The woman did not appear to be wearing a seat-belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

She was transported by rescue to Froedtert Hospital and remains in serious condition.

It is unknown if alcohol was involved and the accident remains under investigation.
