Woman seriously injured after truck crashes into wall on off-ramp; driver fled on foot

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee County Sheriff's officials say a woman suffered serious injuries following a crash that occurred on the Layton Avenue off-ramp from I-94/I-43 SB Wednesday evening, June 24th.

It happened just after 7:00 p.m.

911 calls prior to the crash indicated that a pickup truck had been driving recklessly and at a high rate of speed before it crashed into a wall on the off-ramp.

Sheriff's officials say the male driver of that pickup truck fled the scene of the crash on foot.  The female passenger in the truck, a woman in her 30s, suffered serious injuries -- but it is believed she will survive.

The driver was taken into custody near the scene of the crash. He is the listed owner of the vehicle, and had two felony warrants out for his arrest.

He will now also face misdemeanor criminal charges for hit-and-run, and leaving the scene of a crash.
