Woman shot multiple times, wounded on 6th St. in Racine
RACINE (WITI) -- 44-year-old Lucinda White of Racine is recovering after being shot multiple times late on Wednesday, January 16th.
The shooting happened around 10:45 p.m. Wednesday near 6th and Villa Sts. in Racine. White suffered gunshot wounds to the arm and head.
White was initially taken to Wheaton-Franciscan All Saints emergency room. Later, she was flown by Flight for Life to Froedtert Hospital.
FOX6 News spoke with White's sister on Thursday evening, who was at Froedtert Hospital with Lucinda. White's sister, Pamela told FOX6 News she doesn't know whether Lucinda will recover. Pamela says Lucinda was undergoing tests on Thursday night, but so far, was unresponsive.
Jorge Figueroa owns a business near the crime scene. He tells FOX6 News he feels the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute that turned violent.
"It's sad -- individuals for some reason are not having any regards for others' lives or their own," said Figueroa.
Johnny Ward told FOX6 News he is a relative of White's ex-boyfriend, and said Lucinda was like family.
"She was a wonderful woman, known her when she went to school, known her mother, she was always a kind young lady. This really hurts, and it hurts for both sides," Ward said.
At this time -- the circumstances surrounding the shooting are unknown. However, on Thursday afternoon, police indicated a person of interest in connection with this case was taken into custody in Millersville, Tennessee.
