Worker rescued from transmission tower in Oak Creek after suffering symptoms of heat stroke
OAK CREEK -- Oak Creek fire officials say a maintenance worker, working on a transmission tower for Channel 49 had to be rescued on Tuesday evening, September 1st.
It happened around 7:00 p.m.
We're told the worker was working 300 feet above ground when that worker began experiencing symptoms of heat stroke and heat exhaustion.
A fellow worker who was above (at about 500 feet) noticed this, and observed the worker was incoherent, and going in and out of consciousness.
The worker at 500 feet was able to lower himself down, and he managed to bring the sick worker down off the transmission tower.
The sick worker was taken to the hospital. His condition isn't known at this time.
No other injuries were reported.
The Milwaukee Fire Department’s HURT Team was called in just in case the worker wasn’t able to be lowered off the tower.
The Oak Creek Fire Department was also on scene on standby.
