Between the presents and the excitement, Christmas morning can be a bit hectic -- and that's before you consider that you'll need to cook breakfast.
Chef Foster Deadman appeared on Studio A on Monday, December 14th, with a recipe that utilizes items you may already have in your pantry.
Turns out, you can repurpose all that cookie and cake decorating fun for donuts and cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning.
Brown Butter French Toast (made from last night's French bread)
Ingredients
Batter
2 whole eggs
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Cinnamon on the side for later
French bread cut into 3/4 inch slices on a bias
Butter -- about 2 sticks, but depends on the amount of bread
1) Heat griddle or iron skillet to around 350 degrees or medium heat
2) Add the butter to the skillet and move the butter around until the butter becomes a light brown
3) Quickly add the French bread to the batter, remove and shake of excess, then in the pan with the delicious butter
4) Sprinkle with cinnamon while the first side cooks
5) Once golden brown on the first side flip and finish cooking for an additional 1 to 2 minutes
6) Wipe pan and repeat as many times as needed
Syrup is always amazing -- but what about left over chocolate ganache, Nutella, or some of those wonderful preserves and jams you just got at the work Christmas party? Mix it up and have some fun!
