Admirals beat Chicago Wolves 4-1 at BMO Harris Bradley Center
MILWAUKEE -- Juuse Saros made 35 saves while Max Gortz had a goal and two assists to guide the Admirals to a 4-1 win over the Chicago Wolves in Amtrak Rivalry action Monday night, December 28th at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The win was the fourth straight for Milwaukee and their third consecutive victory over their Amtrak Rival.
After the game was delayed 30 minutes due to travel issues for the Wolves, it was Milwaukee who got on the board first. With Matt White and Felix Girard stationed in front of the Chicago net, Gortz sent a shot on goal. The puck was deflected by White into the chest of Wolves goalie Jordan Binnington and from there it bounced free just to the left of the crease. That's when Girard pounced on the loose puck and slid a backhander into an open net for a 1-0 Ads lead.
Less than a minute after Chicago had tied the score on a Yannick Veilleux tally at 9:49, Gortz gave Milwaukee the lead again with a one-timer from the slot for his sixth goal of the year. Conor Allen sent a pass from behind the Wolves net, through traffic and to Gortz on the doorstep.
Some fancy tic-tac-toe passing pushed the Ads lead to 3-1 at 7:46 of the second. From the right wall Freddy Gaudreau sent a pass to Kevin Fiala behind the Chicago net and he immediately sent a pass to Colton Sissons on the right dot, who fired a one-timer past Binnington.
Fiala tallied the Ads second power-play marker of the night at 10:03 of the third on a slick wrister from the right dot that gave the team a 4-1 lead and sent the Milwaukee faithful home with free Frostys from Wendy's.
The Ads will get right back at it when they play host to the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7 pm at the BMOHBC.
