Admirals break two-game losing streak, scare off Monsters 5-2
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Kevin Fiala scored a pair of goals as the Admirals broke a brief two-game losing streak as they took a 5-2 win over the Lake Erie Monsters on Sunday afternoon, February 15th at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The Admirals kicked off the game with a hot start scoring the first four goals of the contests.
The first came with 13:45 gone in the first period. Triston Grant intercepted a pass in the near circle and centered the puck to Fiala. Fiala then skated to the far side of the goal before turning and ripping a shot past the stick of Sami Aittokallio.
The Admirals doubled their lead with 4:08 left in the first on a Grant blast from just inside the blue line that managed to find its way into the net for his 10th tally of the year and extends his goal streak to five games.
The third goal occurred just 2:05 into the second period as Viktor Arvidsson passed from the far blue line to the near circle for Fiala. Fiala then sent a pass right in front of the crease for Colton Sissons who fired one past Aittokallio in what would eventually be the game winning goal.
Fiala recorded his second multi-goal game with the Admirals as his second tally came with 3:10 left in the second. Arvidsson went charging to the net with the puck, which came loose in the crease. Fiala found it on his stick and with a quick flick of his wrist the puck in the back of the net.
The Monsters finally got on the board with 1:39 left in second. Kyle Stollery picked up a long rebound and blasted a shot that just snuck its way past Hellberg's glove.
Lake Erie's Gabriel Beaupre cut lead to 4-2 as he rocketed a shot from the blue line that also snuck by the glove of the Admirals netminder. just 4:16 into the third.
However, Arvidsson put the game out of reach with an unassisted empty net tally with 2:35 left to play.
The Admirals and Monsters will square off again at the BMO Harris Bradley Center Tuesday night, February 17th at 7:00 p.m.
