MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- Mike Liambas posted his first multi-goal game, but it wasn't enough as the Admirals dropped a 3-2 decision to the Iowa Wild on Wednesday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Admirals can't control Wild, fall 3-2
Liambas has scored three goals in the past two games, which is one shy of his career total with Milwaukee in 87 games.
Iowa got on the board just 30 seconds into the game on a Danny Svret goal that got by a screened Marek Mazanec to give the Wild a 1-0 lead, an advantage that would continue for the rest of the opening stanza.
Liambas picked up his first tally of the night 7:33 into the second period after Richard Clune caused a turnover that drew Iowa goalie Johan Gustafsson out of the net and Clune chipped it over to a crashing Liambas. With the top half of the net wide open Liambas lifted a backhander over a prone Gustafsson to level the score.
Just 42 seconds later, the Liambas-Clune connection struck again, with Liambas finishing with a back-handed redirect that gave the Admirals a 2-0 lead.
The advantage was short lived, however, as Iowa's Tyler Graovac scored at the 9:02 mark to even the score and Zach Phillips beat Mazanec with 6:59 to play in the second to take back the lead at 3-2.
Despite some chances in the third period, the Ads couldn't solve Gustafsson in the third and lost for the second time this season to the Wild.
The Admirals are back in action this weekend with a home-and-home set against Rockford beginning Friday night on the road and finishing on Saturday at the BMOHBC.
