Admirals defeat Hamilton Bulldogs 4-3 Sunday afternoon

MILWAUKEE -- Taylor Beck and Mark Van Guilder each tallied a goal and two assists as the Milwaukee Admirals finished the weekend with a win by defeating the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-3 on Sunday afternoon, December 16th at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

Jeremy Smith stopped 28 Hamilton shots to earn his eighth win of the season.

Milwaukee struck first on goal that from Taylor Beck that took a fortuitous bounce at the 5:57 mark. The play started when Mark Van Guilder took a shot that was blocked by Hamilton goalie Cedric Desjardins. The rebound sat out in front of the crease and Beck scooped it up, carried it all the way around the ice and then shot it from behind the net off the skates of Hamilton defenseman Gabriel Dumont, who was standing in the goal mouth. The puck then went to the left and off the back of the left leg of Desjardins and into the Bulldogs net.

Kevin Henderson made it 2-0 Ads at 5:46 mark of the second period. Chris Mueller drove hard to the net and attempted a shot from the right circle. However, the puck didn’t make it to the net and Henderson was there to fire it into an open net as Desjardin was froze by Mueller.

Hamilton cut the Admirals lead in half with 3:14 left in the second when Ads defenseman Joonas Jarvinen attempted to clear the puck from in front of the Milwaukee crease and accidently tipped it into his own net.

The Admirals got that goal back with 1:07 left in the second period on a very similar goal to the team’s second. Michel Latta drove hard to the Hamilton net and took a shot that never made it to the net. The puck careened to a crashing Van Guilder, who had an open net for his sixth of the season.

After the Bulldogs pulled within one again off a Jarred Tinordi shot just 46 seconds into the third, Victor Bartley scored what turned out to be the game winning goal at 6:39 of the final stanza. Van Guilder carried the puck from below the goal line to the bottom of the circle and fed Bartley just inside the blue line. Bartley boomed a slapper that beat Desjardins high stick side for his third of the year.

Milwaukee continues their five-game homestand on Wednesday night, December 19th at 7:00 pm when they host the Rockford IceHogs at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
