Admirals drop fourth straight, this time to Wild
MILWAUKEE -- Max Reinhart scored the Admirals lone goal as they lost their fourth-straight game, falling 4-1 to the Iowa Wild Saturday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
The losing streak is the longest of the season for the Ads, who have managed just five goals in those contests.
Former Admiral goalie Jeremy Smith earned the win in net for the Wild, stopping 23 shots en route to his fourth win of the season.
Iowa kicked off the scoring on rebound goal by Zack Mitchell 6:17 into the contest.
The Admirals would level the score just 3:41 into the second period on Reinhart's team-leading 11th goal of the season. Reinhart drove hard down the left wing and swooped in on Smith. He put a shot on net that Smith stopped, but he followed it up and was able to cram home the rebound through Smith's pads.
However, just over two minutes later the Wild took the lead again thanks to a turnover directly in front of the Admirals net that went right to Kurtis Gabriel, who had a wide open net for the goal.
Mitchell's second the night, and 12th of the season, pushed the Iowa lead to 3-1 with 7:18 to play in the middle frame.
Michael Keranen's goal with just under five minutes to play in the game snuffed out any chances of an Admirals comeback and brought the score to 4-1.
After playing nine games in the past 15 days, the Ads are idle until next Friday night when they visit San Antonio. The next home won't happen until Saturday, January 30th when they play host to the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7 pm at the BMOHBC.
