CHICAGO -- Milwaukee goalie Jeremy Smith stopped 32 shots but his teammates were unable to get much going offensively as the Chicago Wolves defeated the Admirals 2-1 Friday night at Allstate Arena.
Milwaukee has dropped five of its last six games.
Chicago got on the board first when defenseman Nolan Baumgartner passed from his blue line to the Admirals line where Michael Davies was positioned behind Milwaukee’s defense. Davies put a backhander on goal that was stopped by Smith, but he banged his own rebound into the net 57 seconds into the second period.
The Admirals answered with a power play goal at 6:19 of the second period. Blake Geoffrion had the puck on the right half-wall. He sent a pass to the slot for Michael Latta. The puck bounced off Latta’s backhand into the net. Latta’s first power play goal of the season, 12th overall, was assisted by Geoffrion and Victor Bartley.
The Wolves took the lead with 61 seconds left in the second period. Baumgartner fed a pass to Davies on the right wing. He crossed the Admirals blue line and found Bill Sweatt streaking past the defense to the net. Davies’ pass found Sweatt who redirected it over Smith’s right shoulder.
