Admirals earn 2-1 comeback win vs. Chicago Wolves
ROSEMONT, Illinois --Vladislav Kamenev scored with 2:12 remaining in the game to lift the Admirals to a 2-1 win over the Chicago Wolves in Amtrak Rivalry action Sunday afternoon, March 20th at the Allstate Arena.
Kamenev was knocked to the ice in front of Chicago goalie Pheonix Copley. Admirals defenseman Stefan Elliott received a pass from Patrick Mullen and sent a wrist shot to the net from the slot. Copley made the save. Kamenev got back to his feet and slapped in the rebound for his 11th goal of the season at 17:48 of the third period.
Milwaukee improved to 8-3-0-0 against the Wolves this season. The Admirals remain in second place in the Central Division behind the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Wolves forward Jeremy Welsh scored a power play goal at 10:43 of the second period to give his team a 1-0 lead. Welsh deflected a Jordan Schmaltz shot from the left point for his 13th goal of the season. It was the 11th power play goal scored by the Wolves against Milwaukee this season.
The Admirals had a chance to tie the game at 12:41 of the second period when Felix Girard was awarded a penalty shot, but he was stopped by Wolves goalie Copley.
Milwaukee did tie the game at :57 of the third period. The Wolves turned the puck over at their blue line. Adam Payerl grabbed the loose puck, skated into the right circle and sent a pass for Kevin Fiala to tap in from the left post. The goal was Fiala’s 16th of the season.
Admirals goalie Marek Mazanec stopped 19 shots for his 18th win of the season.
The Ads travel south to face the Texas Stars Wednesday, March 23rd and Saturday, March 26th. Milwaukee returns home to host Grand Rapids Tuesday, March 29th at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
