ONTARIO -- Three straight goals against sealed the fate of the Milwaukee Admirals as they fell to the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-2 on Tuesday night at the Copps Coliseum in Ontario.
The loss was Milwaukee’s sixth in a row on the road. The team’s last road win took place Dec. 3 at Peoria.
Hamilton got on the board first with a power play goal at 1:04 of the second period. Bulldogs forward Aaron Palushaj sent a pass from the left corner to Garrett Stafford at the left point. Stafford fired a slapshot to the net that was deflected past Milwaukee goalie Jeremy Smith by Brian Willsie.
Milwaukee tied the game with a 5-on-3 power play goal. Milwaukee worked the puck around the perimeter. Juuso Puustinen passed from the left point to Victor Bartley at the right. Bartley passed to Kyle Wilson at the bottom of the right circle. Wilson fired a pass to Chris Mueller on the left post for an easy Mueller goal, his 16th of the season and seventh on the power play.
Hamilton took the lead after a turnover at the Bulldogs blue line left Ian Schultz and Dany Masse to move into the Admirals zone on a 2-on-1. Schultz fed a perfect pass to Masse for the conversion at 14:49 of the second period.
Just 2:06 later, Palushaj finished a pretty passing play with a blast from the left faceoff dot past Smith for his 12th goal of the season.
The Bulldogs completed another 2-on-1 play with a Gabriel Dumont goal at 4:01 of the third period.
Mueller put the Admirals within two when he skated from Milwaukee’s blue line along the left wing to the bottom of the left circle where he slipped a backhander past the stick of goalie Robert Mayer.
Milwaukee will face the Lake Erie Monsters Thursday, Jan. 19 in Cleveland. The Admirals next home game is Friday, Jan. 27.
