Admirals goalie Magnus Hellberg selected to participate in 2015 AHL All-Star Classic
MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The American Hockey League has announced Admirals goalie Magnus Hellberg has been selected to participate in the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic, presented by Turning Stone Resort Casino, on January 25th and 26th in Utica, NY.
Hellberg is currently second among AHL netminders with a 1.89 goals against average to go along with a 7-4-2 record, a .928 save percentage and one shutout. The Uppsala, Sweden native has allowed two or fewer goals in 11 of his 15 appearances this season and went over 90 minutes without allowing a goal over a three-game span from November 2-14.
Currently in his third season with the Admirals, Hellberg has totaled a 34-30-3 record with a 2.28 goals against average, a .921 save percentage and eight career shutouts, which is tied for fourth in team AHL history. During his rookie campaign in 2012-13, he posted a 924 save % and a 2.14 GAA, which rank as the third and fourth best, respectively, in Admirals history.
Hellberg and the Admirals return home Thursday night, January 8th when they host the Rockford IceHogs at 7:00 p.m.
