MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Admirals defeated the Abbotsford Heat 3–1 Sunday evening at the BMO Harris Bradley Center, the second win in four games against the Heat. Admirals goalie Magnus Hellberg stopped 23 of 24 shots he faced during the contest, while Mike Liambas' first goal as an Admiral broke a 1-1 tie in the third period to help lead the Ads to victory
After a scoreless first 16 minutes the Heat broke the deadlock when Tyler Ruegsegger took a quick slapper at the top of the right circle. Hellberg never got a good look at the shot and it slid past his right leg pad and into the back of the net.
The Heat rode Ruegsegger’s goal to a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
Just 2:08 into the second period the Admirals tied it up at one when Kevin Henderson took advantage of a misplay by Abbotsford goalie Barry Brust. With the puck headed behind the Heat net, Michael Latta beat Brust to it and passed it to a wide-open, crashing Henderson who sent it home.
The Ads took the lead at 8:02 in the third period off of Liambas' goal, his first of the season. Chris Mueller found Liambas at the bottom of the right circle, who then sniped it into the upper right corner of the net beating Brust glove side.
Taylor Beck put the icing on the cake when he scored from center-ice on an Abbotsford empty net with just :56 seconds left, sealing a 3-1 victory.
The Admirals went six-for-six on the penalty kill, one night after they after they gave up five power-play goals in a loss to Charlotte.
The Ads hit the road for the next four games and don't return to the BMO Harris Bradley Center until Friday, March 1 when they host the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7:00 pm.
