Admirals iced by Rockford, 2-1

MILWAUKEE (WITI) -- The Admirals fell to the Rockford IceHogs on Friday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center by a final score of 2-1.

The loss was the second straight for Milwaukee and marked the first time in 2015 that they have lost back-to-back games. It also snapped a four-game winning streak against Rockford.

The go ahead goal came with 4:07 gone in the third period as Rockford was on the power play and Joakim Nordstrom fired a shot from in between the circles that snuck past the glove of Marek Mazanec.

Milwaukee had a number of opportunities down the stretch, including a power-play and over a minute of 6-on-5 time with Mazanec on the bench, but former Admiral Scott Darling was handled everything thrown is way.

Rockford opened the scoring with 13:25 left in the first on a shorthanded goal scored by Phillip Danault, who deflected a shot from the point by Steven Johns.

The Admirals answered that opening goal just 73 seconds later on the powerplay. Austin Watson was trapped along far wall but managed to free the puck to Pontus Aberg in the far dot. Aberg then fired a pass across the front of the goal to Triston Grant who wristed one past an out of position Darling.

In the second period, neither side was able to find the back of the net as Darling stopped the six Admirals shots he faced and Marek Mazanec denied the nine Rockford shots that came his way.

The Admirals look to return to their winning ways Sunday afternoon as they host the Lake Erie Monsters at 3 pm.
