Admirals offense comes alive in 7-3 win over Rockford IceHogs
ROCKFORD, Illinois -- Forwards Matt White and Vladislav Kanenev each recorded four-point games to lead the Admirals to a 7-3 win over the Rockford IceHogs Sunday afternoon, October 30th.
It was the first game of the season in which Milwaukee scored more than two goals. The Ads improved to 4-2-0-1 with the win.
The Admirals scored a goal on the team’s first shot of the game at 4:21 of the first period. Adam Pardy made a long pass to the right wing for Kamenev. Kamenev entered the offensive zone and found White going to the net. White slipped the puck between the legs of IceHogs netminder Lars Johansson for his third goal of the season.
The IceHogs tied the game with a Mark McNeill power play goal at 5:24 of the first period then took the lead with a 4-on-4 goal by Martin Lundberg at 11:00 of the first.
Pontus Aberg scored his second goal of the season with a wrist shot out of the slot just as an Ads power play came to an end. The goal evened the game 2-2. Adam Pardy recorded the lone assist.
The Admirals made it 3-2 just :25 into the second period when White fed Kamenev as they rushed toward the Rockford goal. Kamenev caught the pass with his right skate and kicked it to his stick for a quick shot and his second goal of the year. White and Frederick Gaudreau were awarded assists.
Ads captain Trevor Smith gave his team a 4-2 lead at 8:33 of the second period with assists going to Justin Florek and Aberg. Smith’s shot was from behind the net and it bounced off the goalie and in.
White scored his second of the game at 13:56 of the second period with assists going to Felix Girard and Kamenev.
Rockford stopped the onslaught for a moment when Spencer Abbott shot the puck off the stick of Milwaukee defenseman Trevor Murphy and into the net at 16:48 of the second period. But, just :43 later, Kamenev scored his second of the game with a snapshot in the slot after a feed from Gaudreau.
Admirals forward Mike Liambas closed the scoring with an empty-net goal at 18:29 of the third period which was assisted by Aberg.
Milwaukee netminder Juuse Saros finished with 31 saves to earn the victory.
The Ads return home Friday, November 4th to host the Chicago Wolves at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.
