MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Admirals will welcome all veterans and active military personnel with a ticket for themselves and immediate family members to their home game on this Friday, November 6th against the Lake Erie Monsters, courtesy of USO Wisconsin, United Steel Workers Local 209 and CH Coakley and Company.
In order to claim their free tickets to the game (limit 6), Veterans and active military should visit USOWisconsin.eventbrite.com.
The Admirals will be honoring U.S. Army veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Gary Wetzel at the game. Weztel is one of the few living Medal of Honor recipients in the state of Wisconsin and will drop the ceremonial first puck.
Ten days before he was scheduled to finish his second tour in Vietnam, Wetzel was shot down for the fifth time. Even though he was critically wounded, he still went to the aid of his aircraft commander and displayed extraordinary heroism in his efforts to help his fellow crewman. His courageous actions reflect the highest traditions of the U.S. Army and the Armed Forces of his country. He was awarded with the Medal of Honor by President Lyndon Johnson in November of 1968 for his bravery and going above and beyond the call of duty.
The 484th Army Band will play the National Anthem before the game and perform in the East Atrium.
In addition, all veterans and active military personnel will receive 20% in the Admirals Team Shop. A special edition Admirals military T-shit will be available for $15.
Plus, the first 3,500 fans to arrive to the game receive an Admirals schedule pen presented by Saz’s.
